About SeaGarden
SeaGarden’s main objective is to support sustainable water-management policy decisions in coastal areas through the advancement of regenerative marine farming (RMF) to mitigate eutrophication.
The common challenge
The South Baltic’s coastal waters are under pressure from nutrient pollution, unsustainable resource use and low-level cross-border governmental cooperation. SeaGarden drives a shift from fragmented, pilot-level initiatives to a coherent, cross-border approach where RMF is recognised, supported and applied in regional development and environmental policy.
Who we work with
- Public authorities, agencies & municipalities — enablers of nutrient reduction who need permitting standards and nutrient-modelling tools.
- Practitioners — marine farmers, fishers and aquaculture SMEs who implement RMF on the water.
- NGOs & community groups — environmental NGOs, community groups, youth organisations and citizen scientists.

The six-partner consortium launches SeaGarden and aligns on the work plan.

First partner meeting & Danish study tour
Partners visit the Kerteminde forerunner farm to seed the pilot designs.

Knowledge base & stakeholder mapping
Best-practice review, needs assessment, and co-development of the Decision-Support Tool begin (WP2).
- 2027–28
Pilot Sea Gardens installed
Pilot farms go in across Germany, Poland and Lithuania; nutrient-removal monitoring starts (WP3).

Decision-Support Toolbox prototype
The interactive online tool reaches a working prototype, refined with stakeholders.
- 2029
Outputs published & final conference
Joint Framework Guidance, Technical Toolkit and the Knowledge Hub launch; results shared at the closing conference.

Project completion
36 months delivered — a cross-border blueprint for regenerative marine farming.
